Kids Productions are the perfect introduction to musical theatre and focus on fully staging and performing an abridged musical! This class covers all aspects of getting a show on its feet and is great for beginners!

You will get to experience auditioning with your class, rehearsing as a team, and performing for friends & family at the Village Theatre in Danville!

Open enrollment takes place twice a year when our classes are announced for the Spring or Fall Sessions. You can sign up in June for the Fall Show or October for the Spring Show! Enrollment is done on a first come, first served basis. There are 6 weekday casts, and 2 Saturday casts, each holding 25 - 30 spots.

We understand schedules are difficult, however enrolling in more than one cast of the same show is not allowed. If a participant enrolls in more than one cast, they will be removed from all casts of that show if they have not contacted us within 24 hours of enrollment to tell us which cast they want to be in. This policy ensures fairness and allows everyone an equal opportunity to shine. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

While there is no audition needed to be a part of our Kids Productions, all actors will be asked to audition for roles during the second rehearsal. Your director will guide you through the audition process in order to cast you in a role. Auditions are held in front of the cast, singing a short excerpt from the show. When you sign up for a Kids Show, you are committing to being part of the cast. There is no guarantee that you will be cast as a lead, supporting, or any named role. Everyone is guaranteed to be part of the ensemble (group who does not have solo lines, but acts as a whole and participates in many important scenes throughout the show).

Students who miss rehearsals struggle to catch up, impacting overall cast progress and cohesion. Like a sports team, everyone's participation is crucial for success. Missed classes may result in students not being included in scenes or songs due to limited rehearsal time. Creating musical theatre cannot be done with only one person;  every member of the cast is incredibly important to the overall production. We ask that you prioritize being at rehearsal on time and ready to go.

Tech rehearsals are vital just before opening night. Onstage, alterations to dance formations and blocking may happen. Practicing in full costume with all show elements is essential for an actor's peak performance.

Costumes will be provided for all characters, however we will ask that families supply a base-layer for their actor’s costumes. For example, a white tank top and leggings, something that can be easily worn underneath so the actor still feels comfortable changing in the dressing room with others. In addition, you will be asked to provide footwear for the performance such as jazz shoes.

Ticket information will be sent out 1-2 months prior to the event. All tickets must be purchased through The Village Theater website.
